Join us at Jeanine Taylor Folk Art as we welcome Jennifer Lemmer Posey, the Tibbals Curator of Circus at the Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota, for an engaging presentation delving into the rich history of the circus and its connection to folk art. Set against the backdrop of Jeanine Taylor’s fall show, Folk Art Under the Big Top, this event offers a unique learning experience for guests. Space is very limited, and guests are encouraged to arrive before the event starts at 1 pm.
About Jennifer Lemmer Posey
Jennifer Lemmer Posey has a deep passion for outsider art and earned her master’s degree in art history from the Florida State University. Her fascination with the circus began during a college internship at the Ringling Circus Museum. Following her graduation, she was offered a position at The Ringling, where she embarked on her lifelong career as Curator of Circus.
With over 20 years of experience as a curator, she has contributed to publications such as The American Circus, The Amazing American Circus Poster, and Early Popular Visual Culture. Lemmer Posey served as an Advisory Scholar for the Smithsonian Folklife Festival celebrating the Circus Arts in 2017.
