Join us for our next panel discussion, which delves into Liverpool’s rich music heritage - from the home of cellar club venues like The Cavern and Eric’s where local talent flourished, to huge music festivals which welcome stars from across the world to the city.We will uncover some of Liverpool’s oldest musical roots, explore the global phenomenon of The Beatles and look to Liverpool’s future as a world class music city.
Our panel will be:
Ray Quarless from the Liverpool Heritage Development Company. Ray is a local historian who has curated successful exhibitions focused on the history of Black music and Black sport in Liverpool. Ray also works closely with National Museums Liverpool, advising on projects such as our Wondrous Place displays and our International Slavery Museum.
Kevin McManus is head of Liverpool UNESCO City of Music. He has a strong Liverpool music pedigree, from his early beginnings as a music journalist, through to his role as Curator at the British Music Experience, and in his ongoing work in supporting emerging local artists.
Jon Keats is a musician and a songwriter, but he joins our event to talk about his role as Director at Cavern City Tours and his connections to what is arguably the most famous music club in the world. He is responsible for the music and events at The Cavern and manages International Beatleweek, which brings thousands of music tourists into the city each year.
