A Girl & A Gun Women’s Shooting League (AG & AG) is a shooting club established by women shooters for women shooters. Our goal is to empower, educate, and have fun at the range. AG & AG events are intended to be fun, social gatherings where women can come together for support, encouragement, ask questions in a safe and nonjudgmental environment. This program is taught by Tamara Dumont, AG & AG and NRA Certified Firearms Instructor. Women’s Intro to Handgun is an ideal first class for women interested in learning the essentials about semi-automatic handguns and becoming safe and responsible participants at the range.
As an introductory, orientation style program this class intends to cultivate RANGE-SAFE SHOOTERS who understand and can demonstrate: Firearm Safety Rules Safe firearm handling skills Engage in Dry Fire and Live Fire exercises Follow range commands Adhere to range safety protocol & procedures.
The A Girl & A Gun method balances an informative classroom session with hands-on dry-fire exercises, followed by a layered live-fire set of drills to develop the specified skills. This allows frequently asked questions to be addressed early in the learning process and sets clear expectations of what comes next. Participants are encouraged to ask questions and take notes as this introductory handgun class is filled with information and packed with useful tips. They are also empowered to be self-aware, especially at the range.
This class will have extensive use of our Smokeless range in our classroom.
COURSE FEE: $100 per participant *plus any range fees. We will be using Placer Sporting Center for our range this class.
DURATION: : 3-5 hours
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT: Eye Protection Hearing Protection Note-pad and pen strongly recommended We have everything available for sale at the store if you need any of this equipment. AMMUNITION may be purchased at classroom No Reloaded ammo allowed.
OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT: BYOG (Bring Your Own Gun) A functional semi automatic handgun in .22lr, 380 or 9mm 50 rounds of that caliber ammunition No reloaded ammunition permitted in this class. If you need to borrow a gun, please let us know.
RECOMMENDED ATTIRE: Climate appropriate: short sleeve or long sleeve shirt High collared or neckline shirt. No low cut tops/v-necks! Long pants/covered legs recommended Closed-toe shoes Weather appropriate outerwear, where applicable Brimmed ball caps are strongly recommended
