A Geologist's Ramble in the North Oakland Foothills

I talk a little geology as we work our legs on this free, energetic 3.3-mile walk through the stairs and paths of Oakland’s northern foothills, starting near the 19th Street BART station at the Ordway Building (22nd Street and Kaiser Plaza) and ending near the MacArthur BART station during the 2024 Temescal Street Fair (Telegraph Avenue and 41st Street). We pass historic neighborhoods and hidden green spots in some of Oakland's most charming topography, land made by a million years of geological history.
