'A Garden Enclosed' - Singing the Song of Songs - Edinburgh workshop day

A one-day workshop for the Early Music Forum for Scotland.
Spend a summer Saturday exploring some deliciously floral polyphony.
During this workshop, directed by David Allinson, we will sing settings of the Song of Songs, perhaps the most startlingly ‘secular’ book in the Old Testament.
An extended love poem which has been interpreted as an allegory of God's love, either for the Israelites or for the Christian soul, musical settings have traditionally been dedicated to worship of the Virgin Mary, and Renaissance composers rose to the challenge with some of their sweetest music.
Repertoire to include works by Brumel, Isaac, Ceballos and Guerrero.
Direct booking via this website: https://www.emfscotland.org.uk/
Tickets: EMFS Members £40 (non-members £45; students/unwaged £15)
