About this Event
Overview
Join the very enthusiastic-about-all-things-fungal Zak on a walk in Epping forest, an ancient woodland renowned for its massive diversity in fungi species. We will be leaving Loughton Station at 12:30, and aiming to get back no later than 15:30.
There will be many opportunities to stop, as there will be plenty of mushrooms to stop and admire, and identify! This walk is welcome to people of all levels of experience, from those with no prior experience identifying a mushroom, to well seasoned fungal fanatics.
There are no bathrooms in the forest, however there is a loo in Loughton station, and there is a supermarket nearby in case you want to top up on snacks before we set off
What to bring:
- Warm clothes you won't mind getting dirty, depending on the forecast you may want a raincoat
- Water + Snacks or lunch
- Small mirrors are handy for looking underneath mushrooms
- If you are fortunate enough to have a Fungi ID book/guide, this would be a great spot to bring it!
About the Organiser:
Zak is a freelance nature communicator and creative, who loves bringing people together through nature, whether it be through walks or workshops. He is very vocal about his love for the overlooked parts of wildlife (especially fungi) on his instagram @zakarillion.
