About this Event
Back by popular demand, take a private tour of the MFA in French and discover a curated selection of modern masterpieces. From the Fauves and Cubists to Expressionists and Surrealists, this visit offers a fresh perspective on modern art
This time, we will explore the evolution of modern art through Fauvism, Cubism, Expressionism, Surrealism, and abstraction, tracing how artists gradually moved away from representation toward bold new visual languages of color, line, and form.
Led in French by Isabelle Slotine, this guided tour through the MFA’s reimagined 20th-century galleries will examine the revolutionary ideas that transformed art during the early decades of the twentieth century.
As the museum’s displays are constantly evolving, the selection of works on view may vary. We are planning to explore works by artists such as Wassily Kandinsky, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró, Alexander Calder, Mark Rothko, Remedios Varo and others, depending on gallery installations at the time of the visit.
After the tour, guests are invited to continue the conversation over a drink at the museum café. Isabelle looks forward to answering your questions.
Please be ready at the meeting point at 2:15 p.m. so the tour can begin promptly at 2:30 p.m.
Meeting point: Inside the MFA, next to the Sharf Visitor Center desk.
