Participants should be comfortable with structured technical work, rapid learning, and detailed corrections. This class offers dancers a rare opportunity to deepen their technique under the guidance of two masters whose artistry blends tradition, precision, and contemporary expression.
What You Will Learn
- Wrist, hand, and finger technique for expressive flamenco movement
- Arm technique (braceo) with strength, fluidity, and stylistic clarity
- Braceo with wrist articulation, exploring multiple expressive possibilities
- Integration of braceo with body movement and marcajes
- Upper‑body isolations: shoulders, elbows, and wrists
- Body contractions and quiebros to enhance dramatic presence
- Footwork technique (zapateado) focused on clarity, weight, and rhythm
- Steps and variations that combine all technical elements into cohesive movement
About instructors:
Ricardo and Rosario Castro Romero are internationally acclaimed flamenco dancers, choreographers, and co‑creators of the Castro Romero Spanish Dance Company.
Recognized as a National Treasure of Spain in Flamenco, Ricardo and Risario have shaped the contemporary landscape of Spanish dance through both performance and artistic leadership. He is the Founder and Director of Suite Española Danza and Flamenco Vivo, companies celebrated for their innovative approach to preserving and expanding flamenco’s cultural legacy. His work has been honoured with the Cultura Viva National Dance Award, acknowledging his contributions to Spanish heritage and artistic excellence.
Ricardo Castro Romero’s choreographic career spans some of the world’s most prestigious stages. He has served as Principal Choreographer for the Bolshoi Theatre, the Mariinsky Theatre, and the Stanislavsky Theatre, bringing the depth and intensity of flamenco to international audiences. Earlier in his career, he danced with the Ballet Nacional de España, an experience that shaped his understanding of movement as both discipline and emotional language.
