About this Event

The Gothic Temple is a splendid, historic folly built in the gardens at Stowe in 1741. Inside, the rooms are all circular with the main vault of the central space painted with heraldry and to be on the first-floor gallery is an important architectural experience.

Visit a Landmark Trust open day at National Trust, Stowe to explore this fantastic folly. Information on the building and restoration will be available.

Please note that whilst entrance to the Temple is free, entrance charges to Stowe Landscape Gardens for non-National Trust members do still apply on these dates.

Free Heritage Open Day at Stowe National Trust will take place on Wednesday 11 September 2024.

During busy times we will be operating a queue system for visitors.

Children must be supervised at all times.

Dogs are not permitted inside Gothic Temple on Open Days this year.

There are no visitor toilet facilities at Gothic Temple.

Donating to Landmark

As a charity, the Landmark Trust relies on donations to support our work. We couldn’t have rescued over 200 Landmarks without the support of people like you.

Your support saves historic buildings in danger of being lost forever and makes them available for all to experience and enjoy.

Your donation could help train the craftspeople needed to restore buildings like this, or it could offer opportunities to young people to experience history firsthand, through our open days and free stays for study groups.

We would be delighted if you felt able to add a gift to your booking today. We can’t wait to stay in touch and show you the difference your support has made. Thank you!
