About this Event
Hi, and welcome to Fall* Journal Cohort at draft! This is a space for journaling, new friendships and flexing your creative side as we work through Suleika Jaouad’s, “The Book of Alchemy; A Creative Practice for an Inspired Life” as a cohort. Our evenings will be casual, warm and inviting as we get to know one another, journal together, and share what comes up as we work through Suleika’s thoughtful prompts.
This cohort is open to all intrigued by creativity, journaling and reflection. Seasoned journaler or newbie, there is no requisite except a willingness to put pen to page and be a caring listener.
*Our Fall Cohort is a continution of our summer cohort, during which we worked through the first half of the book. There is no requirement to have attended the summer cohort! Each section of the book is independent of one another! We had so much fun in the summer he had to keep going...
Your Ticket Includes:
- A copy of “The Book of Alchemy” in partnership with local booksstore The Whispering Shelf. (Please see note below if you already own the book!)
- Five facilitated gatherings in the backgarden at draft, where we'll write and share together.
We will meet every other Tuesday from September 23rd to November 18th, from 7:00- 8:30pm.
The dates of our five meetings are:
September 23rd, October 7th, 21st, November 4th and 18th.
What to expect:
Our time together: We’ll spend five evenings together in draft’s back garden and mainspace, where there is plenty of space for us to mingle and write. We start off each evening with a "warm-up" of sorts, focused on getting to know one another and the theme for the week. Then we move to the weeks prompt, with time to silently read and respond, before closing the evening with time to share what came up as we journaled.
The Journaling: Suleika has laid out her book as a dialogue, with written pieces by so many talented, writers and creatives, followed by a prompt for the journaler (that's you!). This approach to creativity takes a little of the heavy lifting off your shoulders; the words and thoughts offer a kickstart to your conversation with yourself and eases anyone into creative journaling.
Hey Anna, what if I already own the book?
Great question, (and great book taste!) We have two options:
- Simply register under the "Cohort Registration Only" that will not include a copy of the book.
or
2.If you already own the book, please consider our pass along option at checkout using promo code "GIFTINGFORWARD". This gifts your book copy to a participant using our mutual aid spot, and helps us support our wonderful partner The Whispering Shelf, and gifts you a $10 thank you discount. Your generoisty to a neighbor is seen and appreciated.
You will checkout using the standard "Cohort Registration-Welcome!"
Please choose which option fits you best.

More about draft and your facilitator:
draft is a shared work and gathering space, in Fountain Square. We are a membership based co-working space during the day, and host to a whole variety of creative events in the evenings and on the weekends! Check out all that we do here.
Our gatherings will be facilitated by myself (Hi there! ), Anna Beers, LSW and current Event and Program Manger at draft. As a "lightly seasoned" journaler, I am excited to explore how Suleika's approach to journaling as a dialogue, opens creative pathways and conversation in our group. I think Suleika captures my thoughts about why I am doing this in her introduction, "if you're in conversation with the self, you can be in conversation with the world." Being in conersation with the world is a precious and beautiful thing. I hope you'll join us.
