A Drop in the Continuum: Scientific Models & Vedic Realities, A New Perspective
A Lecture by LD Deutsch

Ever since the leading physicists of the early twentieth century began to uncover the astonishing and bizarre nature of reality on the subatomic level, correlations between what they were seeing and the symbols and philosophies of various Eastern religions have been recognized. The similarities between what is sometimes called the “New” physics and Vedic religious models especially have been investigated from many different perspectives and toward many different aims. Often, the relationship between the two modalities is described within in a linear timeline as a rediscovery, via science, of ancient wisdom. However, many modern scientists balk at this notion, contending that this explanation distorts the formalism of quantum mechanics. But what if there was a way to understand the correspondence between quantum physics and Vedic religions that circumvented this interpretation and posed no threat to either the rigorous scientific underpinning of quantum mechanics nor the sanctity of centuries-old religious models of reality?

This lecture will examine an alternative to the “rediscovery” narrative, offering a different way to think about the very real similarities that exist between scientific models and Vedic realities. Utilizing a rarely explored corner of Jungian metaphysics, with special emphasis applied to deepening an understanding of the organizational function of the “archetypes,” this talk will argue for a shared archetypal ground for both scientific theories and religious and mythological symbols. Through this exploration, we will come to see that these correspondences point to a much deeper level of reality and psyche, where the way we describe reality may be inseparable from the way reality describes itself.
