Like many other devoted dog owners, author Ted Kerasote wishes dogs were able to live longer. In his rural Wyoming community, he acts on his dream of having the longest, healthiest, happiest life for his golden lab, Pukka. Exploring the role played by critical factors, such as inbreeding, nutrition, and freedom, Kerasote challenges assumptions made by some dog owners, breeders and buyers about human’s 4-legged best friend.
