About this Event

A distinguished police career of 37 years - Detective Acting Superintendent Tim Leadbetter.

In this presentation Tim will describe his career highlights across those 37 years and outline a few of the more interesting crime cases he has worked on.

Detective Acting Superintendent Tim Leadbetter commenced in the QPS in 1986 and was sworn in on 23 January 1987. Tim began his service as a general duties officer first in Rockhampton, then Collinsville and finally Inala. In 1991, Tim obtained a position as a plain clothes investigator position and became a detective in 1994.

Tim has worked in regional criminal investigation branches, specialist units including the Armed Robbery Squad, Sexual Offences Squad, Drug Squad and the Homicide Squad. He was the Officer in Charge of the Dutton Park Criminal Investigation Branch for over 10 years, a period he considers a career highlight.

In 2016, Tim was promoted to Detective Inspector, Organised Crime Gangs Group, Crime and Intelligence Command. This group has the responsibility of investigating and disrupting gang related offending statewide.

Tim has also spent time as the Detective Inspector at the Homicide Investigation Unit and has completed duties in the Drug and Serious Crime Group and is currently relieving at the Regional Crime Coordinator, Brisbane Region.

The one-and-a-half hour presentation will begin at 11am on Sunday, 24 November and will provide interesting and educational content suitable for adults only.

The Museum opens its doors to the public on the last Sunday of each month from 10am to 3pm from February to November in addition to the standard Monday to Thursday 9am to 4pm opening hours. Monthly Sunday openings feature guest speakers from across the historical and crime-solving spectrums.
