A Dinner on the Farm
About this Event
About the evening
Join us for one of San Francisco's most unique annual gatherings: an intimate farm-to-table fundraising dinner at Alemany Farm, the largest urban farm in the city.
The evening begins with a reception and farm tour, with an optional harvest for those who want to get their hands in the soil before dinner. We'll then gather for a multi-course, family-style meal celebrating seasonal produce grown right here on the farm — all prepared by an all star chef and kitchen team.
Expect an evening on the land, with good food, good company, and a real connection to the work your support makes possible.
What to expect
- A welcome reception and guided farm tour
- Option to join us for a pre-dinner harvest and participate in a truly farm-to-table experience
- Multi-course family-style dinner featuring farm-grown and locally sourced ingredients; vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and other dietary needs can be accommodated with advance notice
- An intimate gathering of 30 guests — farmers, chefs, neighbors, and friends of the farm

Our chefs: Ivan Jurado and Gabi Espinosa
Ivan Jurado has cooked in some of the most celebrated kitchens in the country — from Eleven Madison Park in New York to Californios and Manresa in the Bay Area. Similarly, Gabi Espinosa spent over 7 years at the community-centered kitchens of Arizmendi Bakery and Che Fico. Now, Ivan and Gabi are at LihoLiho Yacht Club and launching their own concept, Café Diablito, with influences from Ivan’s Miami upbringing and their Latin roots.
For one night only, Ivan and Gabi are bringing their craft to Alemany Farm, cooking with what's growing in the ground that week, in the place it was grown. It will be the most genuinely local, farm-to-table dining experience you can have in San Francisco.
Why it matters
Alemany Farm feeds San Francisco. Last year, The Friends of Alemany Farm produced 34,000 pounds of organic fruits and vegetables which were harvested by our neighbors and volunteers and distributed for free to San Franciscans.
We know that food is only one part of the picture. We are committed to economic justice and green jobs for our community. Our paid urban agriculture training program provides hands-on job training to our community members, focusing on those who have been historically marginalized from access to land and food. This program is rooted in land, environmental and food justice, and the intention of growing community.
Funds raised and ideas sparked at this dinner support local food security for San Franciscans, will support our trainee program, and will allow us to continue these important pillars of our work. Every dollar stays local and goes far.
About the farm
Alemany Farm is a 3.5-acre organic farm ecosystem in southeast San Francisco working to advance short and long-term food security, food sovereignty, workforce development, and sustainable agriculture education, with a focus on low-income, BIPOC, and historically underrepresented communities.
Last year, the farm produced 34,000 pounds of organic fruits and vegetables which were harvested by our neighbors and volunteers and distributed to our community partners through the Free Farm Stand and the Alemany Apartment Food Pantry. All of our food is given away for free.
Our paid 12-month trainee program and unpaid 3-4 month internship programs provide urban agriculture job training to 25+ participants each year. Our paid urban agriculture training program provides hands-on job training to people from local communities with deep roots in agriculture and connection to the city, but who have been historically excluded from opportunities to access and steward land. We are growing the next generation of city farmers. Over 90% of our program alumni have gone on to work in the field, with paid employment as school garden educators, farm and garden managers, city gardeners with SF Rec and Parks Department, and landscapers around the San Francisco Bay Area.
Throughout the year we host low-cost educational workshops for the public and over 100 public education-focused volunteer days with a total of 14,000 volunteer hours recorded in 2025. In a world where knowledge of tending land and growing food continues to be distorted and marginalized, our educational programming centers justice and respect in all parts of the food growing ecosystem from seed and soil to land worker and consumer.
