A Different Thread : Alicia Best (USA) and Robert Jackson (UK) met busking on the streets of Ireland, sparking a musical connection that became A Different Thread. Since then, they’ve toured across more than a dozen countries, sharing stages with artists like The Milk Carton Kids and Jody Stephens (Big Star), and earning acclaim from Folk Radio UK as “warm, deep songwriters that have drunk from the well of 20th-century tradition.”
They are joined by Singer-songwriter Anna La Mare on guitar and vocals. Described as “emotional honey” and “a folky Florence and the Machine”, her haunting harmonies add depth to Jackson’s British folk-rock roots and Best’s North Carolina-born alt-country flair—infused with gospel harmonies, honky-tonk fiddle, and lyrics that explore everything from love across borders to social and environmental justice. Influences include Gillian Welch, The Avett Brothers, and John Prine, yet their music remains distinctly their own.
