...a PortFringe Double FeatureA Different Gage seeks to unskin the slippery sausage of the self in order to examine what is stuffed within. This show explores the life of Phineas Gage who has been sensationalized through various competing narratives and simplifications following a bizarre accident while working on the railroad. The loss of a piece of Gage’s frontal cortex was a hot topic in the field of phrenology, and thrust him into unbidden fame.
Medea: In a time when we must be stand up for each other and ourselves, it is vital to continually ask the questions “Who am I?” and “Who gets to decide?” This is a puppet show incorporating aspects of shadow puppetry with marionette work. AND When Medea discovers her husband’s plans of leaving her for another woman, she is faced with an impossible choice. This Ancient Greek classic by Euripides is brought to life with staging that asks where the blame really belongs in a story so deeply entrenched in the theatre zeitgeist.
Please note: PortFringe performances may contain adult themes, and are not suitable for all audiences. This show includes adult situations, child abuse, death/dying, and the use of fake blood.
