About this Event
A Day of Mourning: Decolonizing Thanksgiving
Come re-examine your relationship with Thanksgiving. This event is free and open to the public. Bring your curiosity and willingness to face difficult truths. There will be time for self-examination, Jaike’s teachings, and a Q&A. Our hope is that you feel empowered to take your next step in growing in awareness and solidarity for protecting Indigenous rights and lifeways.
Our facilitator is Jaike Spotted Wolf (Hidatsa, Assiboine & L’akota) from Spotted Wolf Consulting. Jaike is an organizer, writer, speaker and frontline Water Protector. She is enrolled in and supported by the Mandan, Hidatsa and Sahnish tribes of North Dakota.
Our host space is 27th Letter Books and will be open for browsing and purchasing before and after the event. Check out the great selections that Detroit's neighborhood bookstore has curated!
