Hamilton to Brantford adventureAbout the EVENT DATE!
This event requires decent weather for the afternoon and evening. That is, no little to no rain in the forecast, no high winds, no hazardous weather, and temperatures higher than 5 degrees. If the event cannot run on the shown date, we will postpone it to the next day (same start time) up to 3 times maximum.
You may have seen bikes decked out with lights in select cities in Ontario during the summer months including the Glowriders team in Hamilton. We are going EXTREME!
AWESOME DANCE HITS + PULSATING LIGHTS from city to town to cityWe depart from the Hamilton Bike Share bike hub (in front of McMaster University) at 2:15 PM in West Hamilton to travel to Earl Haig waterpark in Brantford. We will making stops at these locations:
- University Plaza (for snacks)
- Dundas Trail Centre for water refills (old train station)
- Summit Bog
- Jerseyville Park (meal stop - 20 min break)
- Duck Pond
- Fairchild creek
- Mohawk Lake (Locks Rd)
Unless noted above, breaks are about 2-10 minutes in length.
Earl Haig Waterpark features a BBQ stand that sells hotdogs and cheeseburgers at low prices (under $4 each).
USE A DECENT BIKE!Hamilton Bike Share users have limited time and speed. We recommend those users to return to Hamilton when arriving at the Dundas Trail Centre to avoid overage fees.
We recommend that you buy an 18-speed or better bike.
We will wait at stops that require sharp turns off the main path for people to catch up (up to 10 min wait).
We aim to complete the entire route one-way within 3 hours and take a minimum 90 minute break at Earl Haig Waterpark and/or the Grand River in Brantford.
NO MOTORIZED VEHICLES!Most of the route is on a trail sometimes too narrow for cars. The Grand River Conservation authority does NOT allow motorized vehicles on their trails. Anyone joining us with a motorized vehicle (example: E-bike) will be asked to leave early.
FREE EVENT!The event in itself is free for everyone! You must cover your own food/drink expenses. We cannot guarantee that any parking spots for any vehicles are available on any part of our route. In darkness, We will supply ample lighting from our bike.
