The stadium architect Stephan Schütz discusses soccer stadiums from around the world with the professional team manager and storied German star player, Jürgen Klinsmann.
Klinsmann played for several prominent clubs in Europe including VfB Stuttgart, Inter Milan, Monaco, Tottenham Hotspur, and FC Bayern Munich. He played with the West German team that won the 1990 FIFA World Cup and the unified German team that won the UEFA Euro 1996. As a manager, Klinsmann led the German national team to third place at the 2006 FIFA World Cup, among other career achievements.
The firm gmp Architekten has designed over 35 large-scale stadiums including soccer venues such as Berlin's Olympiastadion, Madrid's Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, Cape Town's Cape Town Stadium, Durban's Moses Mabhida Stadium, Warsaw's National Stadium and Brasília's Mané Garrincha Stadium. These venues have staged some of the world's premier sporting events, including FIFA World Cup matches and finals, UEFA European Championship fixtures, UEFA Champions League and Europa League finals, and competitions at the Olympic Games.
