Join us for a Conversation with Colum McCann on launching his writing career at UT Austin!
On Thursday April 3, 2025 at 5 pm in the Joynes Reading Room, please join us for a conversation with internationally bestselling author and UT alum Colum McCann. McCann will be discussing his first published piece in Analecta Magazine (now Apricity) and his journey as a writer. The event will be followed by an audience Q&A and a reception.
This event is free and open to the public, made possible by a collaboration between the College of Liberal Arts, the Joynes Reading Room, and Apricity Magazine. This event is part of a celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Analecta Magazine, UT Austin's first undergraduate literary arts journal, which merged with Apricity Magazine in 2019.
About the Author:
Colum McCann is the author of eight novels, three collections of stories and two works of non-fiction including Apeirogon, TransAtlantic, and Let the Great World Spin. He has won numerous international honours including the U.S National Book Award, the International Dublin Literary Prize, a Chevalier des Arts et Lettres from the French government, and an Oscar. His work has been published in over 40 languages. A regular contributor to The New York Times, he lives with his family in New York City. He is the co-founder of the global nonprofit organization Narrative 4, which operates in forty-two countries and uses storytelling to propel community action and change.
