About this Event
What does it mean to be a black LGBTQ+ elder today?
Waltham Forest staff equality network Out in the Forest, with the support of the Race Equality Network (REN), are delighted to invite you to join an in-person panel discussion with black elders from the LGBTQ+ community.
The panellists will be discussing their lives, aspirations, political and community work, as well as what we can all do to support older members of the black LGBTQ+ community today.
The panellists include , a long-time political campaigner and community activist. Ted has been at the forefront of political movements such as organising the UK’s first Gay Pride in 1972 – including a mass kiss-in at Trafalgar Square. Still active today, in mid-February 2024 Ted attended the unveiling of a Rainbow Plaque to celebrate The Black Lesbian and Gay Centre in Peckham.
More speakers to be announced.
