ROCHESTER RAGING GRANNIES
Event Photos

Rochester Raging Grannies is a local grassroots activist group of older women who use satirical songs, colorful costumes, and street theater to advocate for peace, social and economic justice, and a clean environment.

The local chapter was founded in 2002 with a mission of singing out for human rights, LGBTQ+ liberation, immigrant justice, environmental protection, gun violence prevention, and local issues (such as school nurses and public libraries).

They rewrite satirical, witty lyrics to well-known, familiar tunes and perform at local rallies, marches, public meetings, and community events across Western New York.

They operate autonomously relying on consensus based decision-making.

Membership is open to any woman of a certain age with a commitment to non violence, a sense of humor, and a sense of outrage.

John Terlazzo is an American singer-songwriter, poet, painter, storyteller, and teacher who recently relocated to the Rochester.

Known for his deep, spiritual approach to art, his music and writing have often been described as "Leonard Cohen meets Rumi" or "Modern Surrealist Gypsy Music".
