About the concert
Grace Davidson, “one of the most beautiful and pure soprano voices on earth”, and harpsichordist Julian Perkins offer us a selection of major works from English and Italian Baroque. Together with works that are quite familiar, such as the great songs of Purcell and Dowland, some composers presented are less well known to the general public. Thomas Campion was a fascinating character, composer, poet and physician who studied at Peterhouse. Pelham Humphrey was a strong influence on Henry Purcell, and like him, died much too young, at the age of 27.
