It's a Comic Alley Poe-Looza!
Tryke's assistant Rachel is an Edgar Allan Poe nut and recently asked Tryke if the store could celebrate his birthday this upcoming January. When Tryke questioned why the heck a comic book store would celebrate Edgar Allan Poe's birthday (other than maybe with the horror genre) Rachel, wide-eyed, pointed out that Batman would not exist without Poe!
And not just Batman, but most of our current American culture would be extremely different without the author's existence.
"I don't know if we'll draw a crowd, not everyone is a die hard Edgar Allan Poe fan." Tryke responded.
"But it doesn't need to be 100% Poe; sure we'll have some Poe themed items, and I'll have factoids on how he's influenced titles throughout the store, but it's also a fun reason to throw a party and celebrate comics!"
And thus.....Comic Alley's POE-LOOZA was created.
So we'll be celebrating ALL MONTH LONG with mystery sales, and on Saturday, January 25th, make sure you come on in and check out what we've got 'in store' (pun intended).
- Exclusive artwork will be available for purchase from guest artists.
- Chicago's 'King of Geeks', Elliott Serrano will be in the store. Elliott has written for Dynamite Entertainment on comics such as 'Army of Darkness' and 'Grumpy Cat'. Feel free to ask Elliott any questions you may have about writing for the industry.
- Black Light Bingo starts at 4pm!
