A Civic Heart - The Miller Park District and Miller Plaza Tour

Three decades ago, Chattanooga embarked upon an ambitious vision

to strengthen and revitalize the historic heart of the city’s downtown. Since the

mid-1980’s the district has seen dramatic change, and has offered a high-quality

gathering space for the entire region.

Please join Bill Wilkerson, of Derthick, Henley & Wilkerson Architects and

Eric Myers, of Chattanooga Design Studio for a lively and informative talk about

the 1985 Miller Park District planning and the design and the 1989 construction

of Miller Plaza. The discussion will be interactive and will offer the attendees

several stories and lessons learned about the planning and design process

relationships and decisions that are embedded in the public space today.
