Please join us on May 23rd from 4-8 PM for the opening reception of A Cinematic Point of View
A Cinematic Point of View
In collaboration with the Media Arts Council, the Lansdowne Arts Committee invites regional artists to submit work for consideration for A Cinematic Point of View, a visual arts exhibition that explores how the language of cinematography is translated and adapted beyond the realm of filmmaking. Included artworks will showcase how visual artists, particularly photographers, reference, adapt, and reject this vocabulary in their own storytelling
In film, cinematography is the consideration of lighting, camera angle, perspective, time, and varied shot size to create or enhance a narrative. The film’s story is told visually, in a sequence of images, not simply through words and actions. Having a cinematic point of view is about framing scenes, not just shots; using location and perspective as characters in the narrative; and how lighting and angle create a mood. So then, how much of a story can a single image contain? How do visual artists beyond the medium of film create a narrative? A Cinematic Point of View seeks to explore these questions and invites viewers to consider the visual language of storytelling.
Public gallery hours are Saturdays and Sundays, noon - 4 pm.
This exhibition is organized by the LEDC's Art Committee , a volunteer group of The Lansdowne Economic Development Corporation. The mission of the Lansdowne Arts Committee is to create, foster, and promote Lansdowne's identity as a vibrant and inspiring artistic community. The Lansdowne Art Committee is dedicated to nurturing creative expression, enhancing community engagement, stimulating economic growth, preserving and celebrating Lansdowne's diversity, and cultivating arts education and access.
The 20*20 House is a Lansdowne Borough -owned property. Originally a residential home built in the early 19th century, the 20*20 House has been transformed into a community space with gallery spaces on 2 floors as well as a yoga studio.
