Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of the Arts proudly announces a special collaborative production of A Chorus Line, running November 7–16, 2025. In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the musical’s original Broadway debut, this unique production is a collaboration between the Departments of Dance + Choreography, Music and Theatre, which will come together to bring this iconic story to life.
This landmark production features a student cast, band and crew drawn from the performing arts at VCU, highlighting the creative power of interdisciplinary collaboration. Known for its raw portrayal of the trials, triumphs and humanity behind a Broadway audition, A Chorus Line remains one of the most celebrated and groundbreaking musicals in American theater.
The VCUarts production will be guest directed by Nathaniel Shaw, an award-winning director and the artistic director of Richmond’s Firehouse Theatre. International performer and choreographer Matthew Couvillon will restage the original choreography, conceived by Broadway legends Michael Bennett and Bob Avian, offering students and audiences an authentic connection to the show’s original Broadway staging.
