The Philharmonic Chorale, one of the Peoria area’s oldest musical institutions, is celebrating a monumental milestone — its 100th anniversary. Join us for A Century of Song Celebration Concert on May 4, 2025, at 2:30 PM in Illinois Central College's Performing Arts Center. Tickets ($10 - children 5 and younger are free) are available from chorale members, online at www.icc.edu/arts or at the door.
This once-in-a-lifetime, centennial Celebration Concert will start with a playful homage to Star Wars, coinciding with the May 4th date—May the fourth be with you! The concert's first half will feature a selection of songs from each of the past 10 decades, paired with historical tidbits and recognition of past Chorale directors. Next, multiple Chorale ensembles will showcase their vocal prowess through various pieces.
The second half promises even more variety, highlighting the group’s impressive range. The entire concert includes works from renowned composers such as J.S. Bach, Joseph Haydn, George Gershwin, Stephen Sondheim, Leonard Bernstein, John Rutter, Ralph Vaughan Williams, and John Lennon. The concert will culminate in a grand finale, featuring alumni singers joining the Philharmonic Chorale.
