About this Event
Join us for a landmark day exploring the past, present, and future of women in maritime. Building on the momentum of Women in Maritime Day 2026 (18th May 2026), this gathering brings together researchers, industry leaders, global advocates, and allies to celebrate the rich history of women’s contributions to maritime life—and to chart the course ahead. Through keynote talks, panel discussions, networking, and interactive sessions, we will uncover how research, storytelling, and visibility can drive meaningful change across the sector. With thought‑provoking material on display, hybrid access for international participants, and insights from leading voices around the world, the event promises to spark inspiration, connection, and forward momentum.
This full‑day programme highlights the power of history in shaping a more inclusive maritime future. From WISTA International’s global perspective to expert-led discussions on maritime women’s history, personal testimonies from industry pioneers, and sessions exploring the role of exhibitions, digital platforms, and community networks, attendees will gain a deeper understanding of how commemorating the past can fuel progress today. The day culminates in a collaborative plenary—“You can do it! She did it.”—inviting everyone to help shape the next phase of change. We close with a celebratory book launch accompanied by refreshments, marking not just the end of the event, but the beginning of exciting new work across the sector.
