A Carrying Stream: Free Exhibition

Drawing on the Sound Archive of the University of Edinburgh’s School of Scottish Studies Archives, this exhibition explores creative reuse of the archive by new generations of artists working in dialogue with the past. The deep listening experience features new commissions by Scotland-based artists Blair Coron, Fraser MacBeath, and Carla Sayer, offering visitors a sensory journey around Scotland through the sounds of its people and places.

Visitor Information

The exhibition is open to the public and admission is free. Tickets are not required for entry.

The Exhibition Gallery is located on the ground floor of the University of Edinburgh Main Library on George Square. Visitors will find the gallery entrance directly to the left as you enter the Library's first set of glass doors. Visitors will not need to enter through the turnstiles as the entrance is publicly accessible and before any access controlled areas.

The Heritage Collections teams preserve, provide access to and interpret the heritage collections looked after by the University, online, in galleries and in reading rooms. We actively collect and document heritage past, present and future. We are a unique and interdisciplinary research laboratory, collaborating on research, teaching and civic engagement.
