A Bus Tour of the Historic P&IN Railroad

Come along on an historic bus tour of the former Pacific & Idaho Northern Railroad. The tour will tell the story of the men who gave their careers, or even lives, to an ambitious enterprise that touched the lives of every person within earshot of its piercing whistle or the thunder of its locomotives. It is the story of steel, steam, and dreams of human heart. And finally, it is the story of slow suffocation of an industry that once was the power and pride of a regional economy. The line took 12 years to reach the Meadows Valley and over 2,000 men to complete and within six months it was scrapped. This is the story of the P&IN.

The Bus Tour will be touring the Weiser and New Meadows Depots and making several stops on the old right of way. Bring your camera and good walking shoes. Water will be provided. Please bring a sack lunch to enjoy in New Meadows. There are places to eat in New Meadows such as A&W, Subway and a convenience store, we will have a 30 minute lunch break.

Ages: 10 and up

Time: Please meet at the Valley Wide Park and Ride lot on the corner of Overland and Ten Mile Rd. at 7:45. Bus will leave at 8am sharp!
