About this Event
A play by Tony Kushner. In Berlin, a group of artists celebrate New Year's Eve, 1932. As the country succumbs to facism they are forced to choose between integrity and survival. Each of the friends deals with the incomprehensible forces of evil eclipsing their country and their lives in his own way. Against this narrative, we also follow the character of Zillah, a modern day activist and Greek chorus. The play centers on fears, confusion, questions, impulses towards leaving, impulses towards staying, and the intense and messy constellation that exists around what it means to be a citizen of our country right now during the rise of fascism.
