Chloe Watkinson and the Back Street Men return with their series at The Emmet Ray in Toronto. Playing through the 20th century's remarkable musical evolution, from early blues and gospel, through jazz and early rock & roll, into soul and funk, new wave, punk, rock pop, and R&B.
With the reprise of the series comes a provided QR code to access more information, including explanations on how slavery, segregation, and the aftermath directly led to popular music as we know it, by bringing syncopation, and fusing emotions into music in new ways, and how protest, and political and social issues stayed prevalent throughout the century.
On the 4th Sunday of the month, doors at 8pm, show at 8:30pm. $10 cover charge.
Featuring Neil Hendry, Gram Whitty, Tim Shia, and Emma Hewson!
