The Butterfly Festival is an annual event sponsored by Live and Love Ministries for the purpose of funding the Katie Beth Carter Memorial Scholarship Fund, the Katie Beth Carter Memorial School in Tomas Borge, Nicaragua, and ministry to bereaved parents. The Carter family launched this family-friendly event in 2017 as a way to give back to their community who gave them great support following the tragic loss of their daughter Katie Beth on Labor Day 2016. Butterflies (specifically yellow) became significant in the days and months after losing Katie Beth as they began showing up at the most unique times and places. Knowing that Labor Day weekend would be a difficult time, the Carters wanted to surround themselves with family, friends, and community. 100% of the proceeds from the festival will help fund these causes that are helping students and families in our community and in Nicaragua. The festival will have a wide array of local artisans, businesses, and food vendors. In addition, there will be live entertainment by local performers, some from area schools. Of course, there will also be activities for the kids, including inflatables, face painting, a petting zoo, games, and an arts and crafts tent. The festival finale is a butterfly release in Katie Beth's memory. Entry to the Butterfly Festival is free for the community.
There are also vendor and sponsorship opportunities available.
