9Marks Weekender at Mount Vernon Baptist Church (2027)

Our Weekender is designed to serve pastors, seminarians, and church leaders through humbly demonstrating the elements of a healthy church.
About this Event

What do attendees do at a Weekender?

Attendees will observe an elders meeting, members meeting, Sunday School, Sunday morning service, and Sunday evening prayer service. In addition, they will hear talks on various ecclesiological topics, participate in discussions with other attendees and pastors, and receive 8-12 books.

We ask that only those who plan to stay for the entirety of the Weekender register. This is to avoid taking the spot of someone who could otherwise attend the entirety of the Weekender.

Why attend a Weekender?

We believe that a strong philosophy of ministry is better "caught" than "taught." While many church leaders may be drawn to certain biblical principles, they might not know how those principles should manifest themselves in a local church. Moreover, they might not feel equipped in how to implement those principles. While we don't expect all Weekender attendees to agree with or embrace everything at Mount Vernon, we think this event is a good opportunity to show the building blocks of how to build a healthy church.

Who should attend a Weekender?

Though women are welcome to the Weekender, most of the content is oriented toward elders/pastors and those pursuing vocational ministry. Seminarians, aspiring pastors, and motivated church members are welcome.
