About this Event

We are pleased to announce that our annual 999 EMS Research Forum Annual Conference will take place in person on Tuesday 20 & Wednesday 21 June 2023, at the Double Tree by Hilton, Manchester.

We are excited to be returning to a fully in person event with day one made up of parallel workshops followed by a conference dinner, and day 2 consisting of a mix of key notes speakers, group sessions, oral and rapid elevator presentations, and poster display with a theme of ‘Working with our communities to deliver pre-hospital and emergency care research’

Call for abstracts are now open. Abstracts are invited for oral/elevator presentation or poster display on any aspect of research or quality improvement in pre-hospital and emergency care. Deadline for submission is Friday 17th February 2023 at 17:00hrs. All submissions will be peer reviewed, with successful abstracts being published online in the Emergency Medicine Journal and prizes will be awarded for the following categories at the conference:

  • Highest quality research
  • Research most likely to affect practice
  • Most innovative use of routine data
  • Best rapid elevator pitch
  • Best poster

Background 999 EMS Research Forum

The 999 EMS Research Forum is a UK based partnership that brings together academics and health-care providers with a research interest in emergency care. It has been actively promoting emergency care research since its formation in 1997. Board members come from a range of specialities and backgrounds and include paramedics and academics. Aims of the Forum:

  • To encourage, promote and disseminate research and evidence-based policy and practice in 999 healthcare
  • To develop links between emergency healthcare practitioners and the research community
  • To run an annual research conference providing an opportunity to disseminate research and run workshops to build research capacity
  • To continue developing international collaborations in prehospital care research
