Provided they do not occupy a seat. On a family visit to Bokarina, fiction writer Breton Dukes (Party Boy, What Sort of Man) found the seed of a short story. But how do you make the leap from lived experience into exaggeration, invention and actual storytelling? Dukes takes you through his process of writing the story "Bokarina", revealing how he navigated the crucial decisions: what to keep, what to discard, what to heighten, and where truth ends and fiction begins.
