Volunteer with AmeriCorps on September 11th!AmeriCorps St. Louis has supported a city-wide food packing event in observance of the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance. Nationwide, in 24 cities, more than 30,000 volunteers come together to pack 9 million meals for individuals and families facing food insecurity. In St. Louis, more than 1,000 volunteers will come together to pack 400,000 meals! The meals will be distributed by St. Louis Area Foodbank, directly supporting the local community.
This year, ACSTL needs your help! Our Year 32 Corps Members are scheduled to be at orientation training outside of the city and cannot lead the 9/11 support staffing. Our support has been critical to the Missouri Community Service Commission (ServMO). Are you an ACSTL Alumni who might be able to join in this special day of service in the absence of our new members?
What to Expect:
Volunteers join a two-hour shift at a reserved table, teaming up in groups of 12 to pack, seal, and box thousands of meals for people in need. It’s fast-paced, fun, and deeply rewarding — a chance to make a real impact together. We’re looking for volunteers to assist with registration, hospitality, and heavy lifting!
Available Shifts:
Wednesday, September 10 - Set-up, 1:00pm - 4:00pm
Thursday, September 11 - Meal Pack Shift 1: 7:30 – 11:00am
Thursday, September 11 - Meal Pack Shift 2: 11:30 – 4:00pm
The event will be held at the Chaifetz Arena in STL (1 S Compton Ave, St. Louis, MO 63103). Parking is available for all volunteers!
All volunteers will receive a new AmeriCorps St. Louis t-shirt!
