77th Independence Day at Field Marshal Manekshaw Parade 2023

As a yearly tradition the Manekshaw parade grounds are set to host the Independence Day celebrations. Extensive arrangements including the deployment of 100 CCTV cameras installation of 2 bag scanners provision of ambulances and ensuring hospital bed availability nearby have been meticulously made. The event details were elaborated upon by the police commissioner and the BBMP chief during a press conference. Notably on August 15th traffic along Cubbon Road stretching from the BRV junction to the Kamaraj Road junction will be brought to a halt between 8 am and 11 am. Commuters will need to use alternative routes during this time.

Commissioner B. Dayananda said, “The police have made arrangements for the people attending the parade, including parking facilities. For the flag hoisting and cultural program, 9-10 DCPs, ACPs, and inspectors will be participating. CCTV cameras and baggage scanners have been installed around the Manekshaw ground premises. Instructions regarding the entrance gate have been provided to the public. We urge people to arrive by 8:30, as the roads might need to be closed for the Chief Minister’s arrival afterward. 30 platoons will partake in the march past, including KSRP, BSF, CRPF, and KSISF.

As usual, they will have a special team joining, this time from the Goa state police. Other participating teams include the Bangalore police, Bangalore traffic police, Bangalore police women’s wing, Bharat Scouts and Guides, and 10 schools.” Arrangements, including shamianas, stage setup, and seating arrangements, have been finalised for the guests. The Chief Minister is expected to arrive at the location by 8:55 in the morning. The heads of the Air Force, Navy and Army will also be present.

BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Giri Nath said, “As the 77th Independence Day approaches, we have completed all preparations. The Chief Minister will inaugurate the event at 9 with the flag hoisting, followed by a 45-minute speech.”
