One World Day celebrates multiculturalism and the Cleveland Cultural Gardens’ shared motto – peace through mutual understanding

About the Event

The Cleveland Cultural Gardens are one of Northeast Ohio’s oldest and most beautiful treasures. Some 35 dedicated gardens, designed and cultivated by distinct cultural or nationality groups, adorn the drive along Martin Luther King Boulevard and East Boulevard in Rockefeller Park. Depicted in the gardens are the poets, philosophers, peacemakers, composers, scientists and others who have contributed to world culture. Also featured in the gardens are symbolic sculptures and replicas of or tributes to sacred monuments in other lands.

The Cleveland Cultural Gardens Federation invites you to explore the gardens, attend an event, and support our vision: peace through mutual understanding. The Federation works to promote and preserve the Cultural Gardens, acts as a liaison to partner organizations and the City of Cleveland, and hosts programs such as the annual One World Day.

This free event, hosted by the Cleveland Cultural Gardens Federation since 1946, is filled with opportunities for individuals and families to learn about the many cultures that call Northeast Ohio home.

The day begins with a Naturalization Ceremony and a Parade of Flags, followed by music and dance from around the world and authentic ethnic food throughout the Gardens. The Passport to Peace program is a fun way to learn about countries and cultures of the world and meet members of our Garden communities. The Children’s Village offers families even more fun multicultural games and educational activities.

One World Day offers a unique perspective on the Cultural Gardens, with their lush landscaping, symbolic architecture, and tributes to historic cultural figures.
