7 Film/Stage Weapon Easter Intensive 2027
Welcome to the Easter Stage Combat Intensive
7- weapon course
The goal of the 7- weapon course is to give the participants a basic level of skill in multiple weapons, which they can then continue to develop with us or other stage combat teachers.
We will be studying 7 of the 9 weapons from the NSFS (Nordic Stage Fight Society) syllabus and using common skills from each weapon to make it easier to learn the next day’s weapon. It is possible to start the course and not attend the full 7 days, but due to the choreography, it is not possible to join after the start of the course, unless you have sufficient training.
If students wish to follow the path for the internationally recognised NSFS weapon certification later on, training hours from this course count towards the required quota.
Cost is kr5000 or kr4500 for current NSFS/OFFSCEN members
Course outline:
For the most part we will be training using steel swords and training techniques to be able to perform a choreography with each weapon. Check the video in the discussion for the weapons we bring to class!
Day 1: Unarmed
This day includes falling, basic bar brawl skills, punches, kicks and blocks: the basis of every fight.
Day 2: Knife fighting
An extension of your hand with deadly effect. Knife is the most up close and personal of our bladed weapons. We will be working with both plastic and safe aluminium knives and using different styles and grips.
Day 3: Single rapier
A stylish single-handed weapon used by such characters as the heroic and flamboyant musketeers as well as the pirates of the silver screen.
Day 4: Broadsword/Longsword
Two handed sword, the staple of mediaeval films and a weapon that is quickly modified to lightsaber!
DAY 5: Quarterstaff/Bo
A versatile weapon for your toolbox, a variant of which can be found anywhere: Robin Hood’s quarterstaff, teenage mutant ninja turtle Donatello’s Bo staff, Darth Mauls’ double ended lightsaber, or Eddie Murphy disarming a gunman with a mop handle in the film "Coming to America"
We will be training with oak staffs, with the possibility of double ended stunt lightsabers.
Day 6: Rapier and dagger
A higher level skill for Musketeers with a weapon in each hand!
Day 7: Sword and shield
From Vikings to Game of Thrones and Lord Of The Rings, the staple weapon of most fantasy epics! We’ll be using both Viking-style single point shields and two-point shields.
