Secluded, distant, and untouched: Legendary Tibet, perched amidst the fairytales of Himalayas, manifests a unique charm that sets it apart from any other destination. Lhasa, the capital, is a living testament to this cultural richness, featuring the iconic Potala Palace. This UNESCO Site, once the winter residence of the Dalai Lama, stands majestically as a symbol of the deep spiritual connection embedded in Tibetan Buddhism. The Jokhang Temple, a sacred sanctuary in the heart of Lhasa, invites pilgrims to partake in a rhythmic dance of devotion on Barkhor Street, creating an atmosphere that resonates with centuries of spiritual practice.
Despite its characteristic singularity, Tibet, a theocratic state of monks and a land of thousands of monasteries, was occupied by the Chinese army in the 1950s and incorporated into the People’s Republic. The political status of the country has been a subject of international controversy ever since.
Historically nomads, Tibetans have cultivated a unique relationship with their environment. The black tents, traditional yak hair dwellings, dotting the landscape reflect a nomadic lifestyle intimately intertwined with the natural world. Nomadic traditions, including the intricate art of thangka painting and Tibetan carpet weaving, showcase a cultural depth that thrives in harmony with the land.
Tibet stands as a realm where nature and spirituality intertwine seamlessly, creating a mosaic of landscapes, cultures, and traditions found nowhere else on Earth. Day 0: Beijing
Meeting at airport and flight to Beijing, immigration formalities and if time allows quick look at the Great Wall, overnight in Beijing.
Day 1: Arrival in Lhasa
Connecting flight to Lhasa. After settling in, we will hit the streets to explore the nearby Old Town and vibrant markets around Barkhor Square, considered as main trading place in this part of the world.
Day 2: Explore Lhasa
Start the day with Jokhang, the holiest Buddhist temple in the Himalayas to witness the devotion of thousands of Buddhist pilgrims who travel vast distances to worship at this 1400-year-old temple...
Day 3: Lhasa – Yamdrok Lake – Karo La Glacier – Gyantse – Shigatse
Depart from Lhasa early in the morning, traversing the picturesque Yarlung River towards the sacred Yamdrok Lake, one of the three largest lakes in Tibet. Discover the vastness and serenity of holy lake and surrounding mountains from the Kamba La Pass. Drive along the lake shore to Nankartse and ascend to the stunning Karo La Glacier, offering close-up views of Mt. Nojin Kangtsang. Here we will stretch the legs on 2-3 hrs trail to discover higher glacier lakes.
Day 4: Shigatse – Gyatso La Pass – Everest Base Camp (North)
Today we stroll from Shigatse to Tibet's North Face Everest Base Camp, passing through picturesque Tibetan farming villages. Cross the Gyatso La Pass at 5248 mts for yet another breathtaking panorama here. Continue to Geu La pass, as we reach Rongbuk, famous for being a home to highest monastery in the world, we’ll have opportunity to take the shortest trail to Everest North Base Camp located at 5,150 mts (3-4hrs).
Day 5: Rongphu Monastery - Shigatse
Start the day with a sunrise from Rongphu Monastery, accompanied by chanting monks. If time allows visit Tashizom and hit the road back to Shigatse.
Day 6: Shigatse to Lhasa
Drive from Shigatse back to Lhasa, across the scenic route. Free time at leisure Spend the night in Lhasa.
Day 7: Departure
Last souvenir shopping before departure for connecting flight back home with pockets full of lifetime, Tibetan memories.
Level: easy to moderate (short, high-altitude trek to EBC at 5,150mts).
Activities: trekking, sightseeing.
Accommodation & meals: comfortable hotels in Lhasa, double sharing. Restaurant meals excluded.
Cost: 11,930 AED all-inclusive of 4 international flights / 6,130 AED excl. flights, until MARCH 25th.
Visas: Any expenses related to visas and permits are not included. Visas – support available through third party; permits - we will guide you through the process.
