About this Event

The 6th Annual Black History Gospel Music Brunch and Awards. The event will take place on Saturday, February 18, 2023, 9:00 am in the Albert E. & Sadie B. Smith Conference Center on the campus of Florida Memorial University. More than just music linked to the Black Church experience, Gospel music is an American art form; a genre of music that speaks to the struggle and plight of the downtrodden celebrates faith; the human spirit; tenacity, perseverance, and triumph. In keeping with our mission and vision, MDA hosts this annual event to celebrate our rich history and heritage, featuring this powerful music, and honoring unsung individuals in our community. Paying homage to them for their longevity and significant contributions in the areas of Mainstream and Inspirational Industries. Our 2023 honorees included: Marshall Davis, Sr., Second Chapter, Corey Edwards, James Kinchen Jr., Theodore “Teddy” Harrell Jr., Bishop Carlos Malone, Dr. Edward Robinson, James T., and Gia Wyre.
