The Chicago International Film Festival returns for its 60th season. The longest continually running competitive film festival in North America, this year’s lineup offers over 122 feature films and more than 70 shorts, plus scores of other events, workshops, performances, and discussions.
The proceedings run from October 16 to October 27. During the 11 Days of the Festival, besides screening the best in U.S. and international films, there are various sub categories that spotlight different film presentations, special industry gatherings, the conveniently located/parking friendly AMC New City in Chicago as the hub for the festival, and of course filmmaker appearances, film Q&As and Red Carpet happenings. The event will also feature throughout Chicago at venues like the Music Box Theatre, the Gene Siskel Film Center, the Chicago History Museum, and the Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts at the University of Chicago.
The Chicago International Film Festival celebrates the best that cinema has to offer. Showcasing films from established masters and emerging storytellers, the Festival welcomes films from around the world. Offering an impressive selection of competitive and non-competitive programming, the Chicago International Film Festival brings films both domestic and international to silver screens in Chicago.
Festival Programs like Opening Act, Centerpiece, Closing Night, Special Presentation, International Competition, New Directors Competition, Documentaries, Spotlight, In Focus: Finland on Screen, In Focus: Germany on Screen, In Focus: Italy on Screen and Genre Presentations (Black Perspectives, LGBTQ+ OutLook, After Dark and More) are all neatly summarized in Festival Programs.
