Join us as we celebrate 60 years of The Maclaurin Chapel of Waipapa Taumata Rau, The University of Auckland.
The Maclaurin Chapel at the University of Auckland commemorates Richard Maclaurin Goodfellow,
who was killed during the Second World War aged just 24, and Richard Cockburn Maclaurin.
The chapel was gifted by Sir William Goodfellow, Richard Goodfellow’s father and the nephew of Richard Maclaurin.
Maclaurin Chapel, a non-denominational space of welcome, has been described as ‘Modern religious eclectic’ and was dedicated by Canon Mangātitoki Cameron, chairman of the Auckland branch of the National Council of Churches, on 22 May 1964.
We welcome all Alumni, students, friends and whānau who have gathered for 60 years for worship, celebrated marriage, farewelled loved ones, and those who have found peace and refuge in this wonderful gift of sacred space.
