60KM UltraMarathon & Raffle - Charity Event.
About this Event
On the 22nd of November 2026, Laura will be taking on an incredible 60km ultra marathon to raise money for the Irish Cancer Society at 9am. Following the run, we will be hosting a raffle and close out event in St Mary’s RFC at 5pm. All proceeds will go towards the Irish Cancer Society. We are grateful to anyone who wants to support this cause.
Cancer is a cause that is very close to all three of us, and each of us has our own personal reasons for wanting to support the work of the Irish Cancer Society. We wanted to share some of our stories to explain why this fundraiser means so much to us.
Laura:
Hi, I’m Laura, and I’m running 60km for the Irish Cancer Society. This cause is close to my heart: my uncle Frank is currently living with prostate cancer, and I’m doing this in honour of him, and everyone affected by cancer. Frank is an incredibly generous, extremely intelligent and genuinely lovely man. He’s been a huge help with this whole project, including securing St Mary’s RFC as the venue for our raffle as past president of the club. Watching what he and our family have been through has made me want to do something to help. Every donation, no matter how big or small, helps support patients and their families.
Isabella:
Cancer has been a significant part of my family’s life, particularly through the experiences of my Mum and Grandad. My Mum battled with Stage 2 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at the age of 12 and was later diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer in 2020. My Grandad also battled cancer twice before sadly passing away. Seeing my mum undergo chemotherapy and experiencing the struggles that come with such a disease was deeply upsetting to watch and showed me how cancer affects both the person diagnosed and those around them. These experiences have made this cause extremely meaningful to me and have motivated me to support the Irish Cancer Society and the work that they do for those affected by cancer.
Lauren:
The Irish Cancer Society is a charity that is incredibly important to me, as cancer has personally affected my family. In 2017, my aunt Yvonne was diagnosed with breast cancer, bravely undergoing treatment before being declared cancer-free. Shortly after, my mum Tamara tested positive for the BRCA-1 gene, significantly increasing her risk of developing breast and ovarian cancer. She then underwent preventative surgery, receiving a double mastectomy and a hysterectomy. Seeing their experiences firsthand has shown me the impact cancer can have on families and has made me passionate about supporting this cause.
If you would like to support Laura’s 60km ultramarathon for the Irish Cancer Society, we would greatly appreciate it! You can also purchase raffle tickets now through eventbrite or during the event! Raffle will commence at 5 pm at St. Mary’s RFC (D6W X652) on the 22nd of November! We hope to see you there!
