60 Years 2.0 of Raider Football Celebration to honor ALL Players, Coaches, and Spirit Teams
The twice postponed celebration of 60 years of NFHS and the 50th anniversary of the 1970 State Championship and Coach Ron Holland Tribute is back on, with some alterations. Since it’s been 2 years delayed and no idea when it could get rescheduled, the Tribute book for Coach Holland has already been delivered. Coach Holland and his family were very moved by everyone’s memories and tributes to him. And, now that we seem to be getting most things in life back to some degree of “normal”, discussions between Rick Jones (former Raider Head Coach and former Principal of NFHS), Craig Wycinsky (’66) and Drew Mahalic (’71) fired back up. In early March, Rick contacted me to advise that the 60 Years 2.0 (for the 2 year delay) Of Raider Football Celebration had been pretty much finalized. One big change was that Coach Holland had requested that any special honors singling him out for recognition be scraped as he felt that he’s had more than enough accolades bestowed upon him and that it was time to pass the baton on to other coaches, past, present and future.
As a result, this current version will be for ALL YEARS of Raider Football at NFHS. This includes all players, coaches, managers, cheerleaders/spirit squad. As well as (if you're fortunate enough to still have them in your life), your interested parents.
This is going to be a ONE-day event: Friday, October 14th, 2022
The tentative agenda is as follows:
· 4:00 pm Gather in the NFHS School Cafeteria
· 4:30 pm Buffet Dinner with the current Varsity Team and Coaching Staff
· 5:30 pm Tour of Remodeled sections of NFHS, Athletic Facilities (including a pretty incredible weight room).
· 6:50 pm (on field) Short recognition ceremony
· 7:00 pm Kick-Off
· Post Game meet and mingle with the team
The purpose of the celebration is twofold: the continuing “brotherhood” of former Raider players and helping propel the current program into seasons ahead.
