6 consecutive Tuesday evenings starting 14th January π¨ Unleash your creativity on our exciting comprehensive 6-week stained glass course, designed for beginners and enthusiasts alike. Make a copper foil or leaded glass panel to your own design. Each session, led by an experienced stained glass artist, will give you a great experience through all aspects of stained glass design, creation, finishing techniques and display. Sessions last 3 hours, one evening a week, for 6 weeks.
Perfect for Beginners: No prior experience required! This course is tailored for beginners, providing a comprehensive introduction to the mesmerising world of all aspects of stained glass artistry.
Traditional Techniques: Experience time-honoured crafts of leaded stained glass and copper foil stained glass, from a professional artist and instructor. Master traditional design techniques and finishing to craft your own beautiful panels from glass.
Expert Guidance: Our qualified and experienced instructor will guide you every step of the way. Our commitment to small class sizes will ensure a supportive and engaging learning environment.
Please note that we are unable to offer this course to pregnant women or nursing mothers.
Detailed Course Description:
Week 1: Introduction to Glass and Design
Gain confidence in handling and cutting different types of glass safely and with skill. Explore differences between Leaded and Copper Foil techniques. Explore the basics of design principles. Use these ideas to plan your unique stained glass project.
Week 2: Project Design and Commencement
Finalise your drawings and benefit from an individual design consultation to bring your vision to life. Choose either copper foil or lead came as a medium, and begin work on your design.
Week 3, 4 and 5: Project Work
Continue work on your project. Cut and grind the glass pieces to shape. Fit the pieces together using lead came or copper foil. Learn appropriate soldering techniques for lead/copper. Cement and explore options for patina or other finishes.
Week 6: Finishing Touches, Project Completion and Showcasing
Learn techniques for polishing and cleaning your stained glass masterpiece. Add finishing touches and reinforcements. Troubleshoot common issues like a pro. Finalize and showcase your individual projects. Engage in group discussions and critique. Receive a certificate of completion.

What to bring:
Please ensure you wear clothing suitable for crafting and sensible footwear (no open toed sandals please).
You will need to bring a clean rag or dishcloth (microfibre is good), and a bag to take your completed work home in.
Donβt forget to bring your glasses if you use them for close work.
What is included:
All stained glass tools, equipment, PPE and materials are provided along with tea, coffee, biscuits and similar refreshments. Everything is included in the course cost.
