This introductory wheel-throwing and handbuilding workshop is designed to teach the fundamentals of working with clay – no prior experience is necessary. Students will be introduced to basic types of shapes and construction techniques, as well as the basics of glazing. Week 1: Intro to Throwing and Class Expectations
Week 2: Refresher on Wheel Throwing
Week 3: Handles, Trimming
Week 4: Handbuilding and Decoration
Week 5: Handbuilding, finishing up the projects
Week 6: Glazing
What you Learn:
-Introduction to pottery materials and tools
-Hand-building techniques
-Learn how to use the slab roller
-Wheel throwing techniques
- Learn to make a mug, bowl, & more.
