6 week hand-building pottery course - Thursday lunchtimes

We run regular courses on Thursday lunchtimes in our loft studio in central Brighton. The classes are small, with no more than seven people, and lots of one-to-one tuition (and tea!) On-street parking is free.

The course costs £225 for 6 sessions lasting 2hrs 15min each. This price includes all clay (choose from white or buff), and a range of glazes, underglazes and slips. Firing is charged at 85p per 100g of fired, finished work.

Course dates: 9th, 16th, 23rd February & 2nd, 9th, 16th March

The date listed on Eventbrite is the date of the first session, and the classes then run on the dates listed above. I can also arrange taster sessions if you want to give potting a try before committing! Just visit my website www.hotfoxpottery.com.

If you are a beginner, or are not confident to work more independently yet, the course will take you through projects which will introduce you to the fundamental principles of hand-building. You can explore pinch pots, coiling techniques, and the use of soft and hard slabs.

You'll get the opportunity to experiment with a range of glazes and decoration techniques.

If you have some pottery experience already, then you can bring ideas for projects you would like to make, and we will support you to make them come to life! You can get some inspiration from our student gallery here.

MAKE UP CLASSES

You can re-book one unsupervised make-up session per term if you miss a class for any reason. These will be available during the times of another class (Monday and Wednesday evenings), or on a Tuesday or Thursday evening.

If you have unfinished projects at the end of the course, but don't want to sign up to another course, then open studio sessions can be booked to allow you to finish projects off.

THROWING ON THE WHEEL

Our 6-week courses don't include throwing as we only have two wheels and it requires focused tuition. If you are interested in trying throwing however, you can book throwing lessons separately.
